Hey there, thanks for reading my bio. I am interested in tutoring because I truly love to help others learn. Although I have never been a teacher, I have conducted many, many training programs during my 25 year career in HR (of which 18 were overseas!). I am also a current student as I decided 2 years ago to begin work on my Doctor of Psychology degree. As a 'later in life" learner I have realized the immense self satisfactio that comes from learning new materials and opening up new horizons. I am well travelled and enthusiastic about life and I would love to be able to help you achieve your learning goals. My personal mission is to empower struggling students to fulfill their ambitions. Furthermore, I developed dialectical, democratic, and dialogical methods of teaching and learning in my PhD, based on co-enquiries, reflections, and dialogues on various subjects. I also completed an individual postgraduate program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in the humanities and social sciences. This program aimed to critique and formulate more humanizing, transforming, and democratic heuristic tools in education, social science, and psychology – a focus that has become central to my career and life. My B.Sc. and Honours degrees were in Psychology with French Studies from London, England. During this period, I supported myself through private teaching and tutoring. In 2012, I came to South Africa to do postdoctoral and research fellowships in education, psychology, democracy, and transformation. I further refined and tested my educational methods with South African students, academics, and residents of disadvantaged areas, aiming to transition from dehumanizing oppression to participative humanizing democracy. I have been teaching and tutoring at universities, schools, and privately for more than twenty years in France, Israel, the U.K, the U.S, and South Africa.
