Hello, I'm Rasna! I have been tutoring for 6 years now, and it has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I've helped so many students achieve their academic ... 続きを読む
In a student-centered teaching environment, the tutor is still an authority figure. However, in my opinion, both the tutor and the student have equally active roles in the learning... 続きを読む

My approach focuses on building writing skills step by step. I begin by assessing the student's current level and identifying strengths and weaknesses. I teach planning, structure, vocabulary development, sentence variety, and editing techniques while providing model examples. Students regularly practise different writing styles, including descriptive, narrative, persuasive, analytical, and formal writing. I provide detailed feedback and encourage students to reflect on and improve their own work so they gradually become more independent writers.
I teach grammar, spelling, and punctuation through a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and application within writing tasks. Rather than simply correcting mistakes, I explain why a rule exists and provide opportunities for students to apply it repeatedly. I use exercises, games, worksheets, and editing activities to reinforce learning and ensure students can transfer these skills into their own writing.
I teach reading by helping students actively engage with texts rather than passively reading them. We focus on vocabulary, inference, summarising, identifying main ideas, and understanding the author's purpose. I use questioning techniques that encourage students to support their answers with evidence from the text and gradually develop higher-level comprehension and analytical skills.
I teach students how to move beyond simply identifying techniques and instead explain their effects. We examine language choices, themes, character development, symbolism, structure, and writer's intentions. I use scaffolding and guided questioning to help students develop analytical responses and support their ideas with textual evidence. Over time, students learn to form their own interpretations and defend them effectively.
I encourage students to speak regularly during lessons and provide gentle correction when necessary. I model correct pronunciation, break difficult words into syllables, and practise stress patterns and intonation. Reading aloud, discussions, presentations, and conversational activities help students improve both pronunciation and confidence when speaking English.
I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves. We work on organising ideas, speaking clearly, maintaining eye contact, projecting confidence, and structuring presentations. Students gradually build confidence through short speaking activities, discussions, presentations, debates, and storytelling exercises.
Yes. I believe students learn grammar best when explanations are clear and practical. I break complex rules into smaller steps, use relatable examples, visual aids, and real-life situations, and then provide plenty of guided practice before moving to independent work.
I focus on creating achievable goals and celebrating progress, no matter how small. Many students lose motivation when they feel overwhelmed, so I break learning into manageable steps and tailor lessons to their interests. Building confidence is often just as important as building language skills.
I am familiar with a variety of international curricula, including Cambridge IGCSE, A Levels, IB, AP, SAT preparation, and general English programmes. If a student attends a different school or follows a specific curriculum, I review the syllabus and course requirements to ensure lessons align closely with classroom expectations and assessment criteria.
I combine content knowledge with exam technique. Students learn how to approach different question types, manage time effectively, structure responses, and understand marking criteria. We use past papers, timed practice, model answers, and targeted feedback to build confidence and improve performance.
I incorporate a variety of activities including discussions, games, quizzes, writing tasks, presentations, reading exercises, and problem-solving activities. Lessons are interactive rather than lecture-based, and I frequently ask questions to check understanding and encourage participation.
Absolutely. I teach students how to analyse questions, identify command words, plan answers efficiently, manage exam time, avoid common mistakes, and maximise marks. We also practise under exam conditions to build familiarity and confidence.
Yes. I regularly provide worksheets, revision materials, vocabulary lists, reading tasks, writing prompts, practice questions, and personalised homework based on the student's needs. Independent practice is an important part of long-term progress.
Yes. I can assist students preparing for exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, SAT Reading and Writing, and other English proficiency assessments. Lessons focus on exam-specific skills, strategies, practice questions, and feedback tailored to the requirements of each exam.
Yes. I recommend reading materials based on a student's age, interests, reading level, and goals. Reading should be both challenging and enjoyable, so I aim to find texts that develop language skills while maintaining engagement and motivation.
I teach practical communication skills including professional email writing, report writing, presentation skills, meeting etiquette, formal vocabulary, and workplace communication. Lessons are tailored to real-world situations that students may encounter in academic or professional settings.
I teach literary devices through examples, discussion, and application. Students learn not only to identify devices such as metaphors, similes, symbolism, and personification, but also to explain why authors use them and how they affect the reader. We then practise applying these techniques in students' own writing.
I believe students become stronger writers when they write about topics they genuinely enjoy. I encourage creative writing, journaling, storytelling, poetry, reviews, and personal projects based on their interests. By connecting writing to their passions, students become more motivated and develop greater confidence in expressing their ideas.
