あなたへの質問

Q: What is your approach to teaching writing, and how do you help students develop their writing skills?

My approach to teaching writing is to get the student deep into their creative mind and truly imagine that they, themselves are in the scene they're writing about. I also get them to notice how the author is describing what they write. I've noticed that doing so teaches them better descriptive language!

Q: How do you help students with grammar, spelling, and punctuation?

Reading aloud, and visual posters/whiteboards

Q: What is your approach to teaching reading, and how do you help students improve their reading comprehension skills?

I read aloud with them, and encourage them to read books or whatever they like as much as they can! My favorite thing is to have the student read slightly above their level and pick about 3 new words to define, which better expands vocabulary.

Q: How do you help students with literary analysis and critical thinking skills?

I encourage my students to ask lots of questions, but to show their evidence as well!

Q: How do you help students with pronunciation and enunciation?

One of the main ways is by having my student watch how I say the word, and then have them repeat. Reading the word at a slower speed and really emphasizing how it is pronounced and enunciated.

Q: How do you help students with public speaking or presentation skills?

I had a HUGE fear of public speaking when it came to presentations in class - my personal favorite way is through light humor!

Q: Can you explain complex English grammar rules in simpler terms for easier understanding?

This all depends on the student's age

Q: How do you motivate students who struggle with the language?

I explain to them that learning English, just like learning any other languge is a process. For example - I, myself am learning Spanish and even I have trouble - especially when I'm switching between two languages at once!

Q: Are you familiar with the English curriculum and course requirements at my school?

All school counties are different, and I will be serving a few - the best way to make sure I'm up to date with your child's curriculum is to work with their teacher at school as well so I can stay in the loop :)

Q: How do you help students prepare for English exams and assignments?

I help them build their confidence in the types of questions they'll be facing. Timed writing practice or writing prompts seem to be very effective as well!

Q: How do you ensure that students are actively engaged during tutoring sessions?

I make sure to teach them in the way that they, as an individual student, need to be taught. All students are different, but I always do very hands on and (quite literally) colorful learning!

Q: Can you help with test-taking strategies for English exams?

Of course!

Q: Are you willing to provide additional practice problems or resources for independent study?

If I have them, I always provide :)

Q: Are you able to provide assistance with English language certification exams, such as TOEFL or IELTS?

Sadly, no :(

Q: Can you provide guidance on choosing appropriate reading materials for improving English language skills?

If I have the resources, always!

Q: How do you help students with business English skills, such as writing professional emails or conducting meetings in English?

Roleplay!

Q: How do you help students with understanding and applying literary devices in English literature?

Visuals, such as videos and diagrams are usually the best way!

Q: How do you encourage students to pursue their own writing interests in English?

I let them know that the world has all sorts of beautiful and creative minds, and to not fear rejection - the worst thing someone can tell you is "no", and it gets you closer to a "yes" every time!
