あなたへの質問

Q: What level of Chinese do you typically teach, such as basic Chinese or advanced Chinese?

I teach basic Chinese to children or to individuals who want to learn beginner-level Chinese. My lesson focuses on conversational Chinese.

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Chinese language and improve their pronunciation?

I use flashcards, memory games, worksheets, and other interactive activities to strengthen what they learn in the lesson. Frequently speak to them in Chinese to foster an environment where they feel more comfortable to speak a foreign language.

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

No, but if I were to do online teaching, I would prefer to communicate via Zoom or Google Meet.

Q: What resources do you use to supplement your lessons, such as textbooks, online materials, or videos?

Worksheets, Flashcards, videos, games.

Q: How do you tailor your lessons to each student's learning style and preferences?

First, I'd like to get to know the students' preferences and hobbies, such as what they like to do in their free time. For example, if they like to draw and color, I would incorporate art into learning to help strengthen and make lessons more fun. I observe what their strength are and what techniques help them remember new vocabulary (i.e. through visuals, audio, etc).

Q: Do you offer any cultural insights or background knowledge along with your language lessons?

Yes, the Chinese language in itself is very rich in culture. For example, each Chinese characters have its own origin and historical story on how they are formed. These stories are really interesting and help students memorize how to write them.

Q: How do you help students practice their Chinese language skills outside of class, and what resources do you recommend for further practice?

Going through vocabulary every day, looking at worksheet done in class to help revise.

Q: How do you approach teaching Chinese language to students who are not fluent in Mandarin or other Chinese dialects?

I start by teaching them from the very beginning, putting myself in their shoe when making a lesson plan. The goal here is to make Chinese fun and easy to learn, not intimidating and too challenging. Start the lesson by asking how relevant are Chinese language and cultures are in their life. This helps them reflect on the familiarity of Chinese in everyday life, which makes it easier to guide them into the first lesson.
