Hello my angels! My name is Shamiso Zvandasara and I am currently in my first year of university at the University of Cape Town. I am studying Politics but have a love for English. Studying English and the analysis that goes into it allowed me to apply those skills into all my other subjects. I received an A in my O level examinations for English and would love to teach those in Form 4 and below. I believe the equivalent of that would be grade 10. English can be frustrating sometimes when you have to write entire essays about the deeper meaning of things that are not easy to see but once you learn the basics, it can be a breeze.

I currently have over 5 years of teaching experience, which includes 1 year of private tutoring in the UK and 4 years in Hong Kong. I have been living in Hong Kong since 2016 and have worked in a successful Tutorial Centre [ 6 branches in HK alone] whilst continuing my academic study and privately tutoring to students of all ages (3-50) and skill level (phonics to business communication). I have taught classes of students numbering up to 10, lasting up to 2 hours each. I have a great passion for Academic Study. Since having achieved much in the British School system, attaining 11 GCSEs and 3 A-levels to an excellent standard, I have strived to continue my pursuit of further qualifications in both the field of sociology, politics and education. I graduated from Swansea University attaining a 2.1 grade in Humanities and received a CELTA [Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults] qualification from Cardiff University 2 months later. In 2018 I began my master’s degree in City University. I have since graduated, having acquired the MA from The City University of Hong Kong. My classes have been described as fun, yet intensive. I will always encourage my students to speak, especially regarding topics that interest them. As previously mentioned, I love games and will often find ways of making my classes more fun and competitive when possible. Though I have personally been described as ‘wacky’ in demeanour, I am far from a push over and am not afraid to get tough when the occasion calls for it. That being said, I am a very patient person. I will never force students who are struggling, I seek to encourage them and try new techniques to develop their learning. My general philosophy when it comes to teaching has always been to ‘encourage learning through laughter, persistence and care’. Overall, I would consider myself to be outgoing and adaptive to a wide range of personalities.

Hey, I am currently an university student studying overseas that is very passionate in sharing my knowledge towards the subjects of English, Science, Maths to those who need a little extra help. I am very approachable and since I am still studying, students at a younger age will find my teaching methods more relatable and easy-going; traditional teaching methods aren't necessarily the most beneficial way to learn. But most importantly, students will be given the space to express themselves and enjoy learning the subjects even more.

I am a NET teacher from the UK with over 10 years of teaching English Language in Hong Kong. I have taught many courses such as IELTS and the HKDSE English language course as well as Cambridge FCE, KET, GCSE courses. A good number of my students come from Band 1 schools such as St. Paul's Convent School, Marymount Secondary School, Belilios Public School, Queen's College, and Wah Yan College. I also obtained my Cambridge CELTA teaching certificate in the UK.
