I am a high school student currently taking English as a high-level course. I grew up speaking English at an American school and moved to Berlin to continue my education. I am willing to help you with anything related to English, whether it's formal or informal. This includes difficult-to-pronounce molecules in Chemistry or just some casual lingo to impress your friends ;). My main goal is to give you the confidence to speak English without feeling ashamed. Hello there, this is Ms. Janiver. I am a local Chinese fluent in native-level English and Cantonese in Hong Kong. I completed my secondary education locally and received my undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto. I later completed my M.Phil degree at the University of Hong Kong. Teaching is one of the passions of my life, apart from going to the gym and playing the piano, harp, and cello. For over a decade since my retirement from the corporate world, where I was a department head in Qualitative Research (consumer insights and business consultancy), I have been teaching English to children and adults alike. I have also taught at the University of Hong Kong and SPACE in Architecture and Qualitative Research respectively, prior to my commercial engagements. My students enjoy my creative and humorous way of teaching. While there is an emphasis on academic results, equally important is the emphasis on the learning and thinking process, something that will benefit them in the long run. Constantly, I will be looking for ways to "spark" them for the "a-ha" moments. Teaching materials will complement and supplement the school's ones with customized exercises and practice along the way. Known to be an understanding and insightful type of teacher, I can easily tap into the heads of students to understand their pain and agony in learning. Being a mature adult, I can empathize with the challenges and be able to devise flexible teaching methods to accommodate their specific needs and wants. There is always honest and transparent ongoing communication with the parent(s) regarding the progress of the child. Positive reinforcement and motivation are keys to my teaching style. I push or pull when the student is in approach or avoidance mode. Synchronizing with your child's development, together we work towards letting him/her shine their rightful light.
