Hello! My name is Zi Ling, but you can call me Ms. Zi. I am an English-speaking tutor dedicated to helping children of all ages (4 - 18y.o.) become independent learners. I graduated from the University of Hong Kong and am currently pursuing my passion for teaching. I am passionate about creating a supportive learning environment to help young learners achieve their goals. I offer comprehensive math lessons for preschool, kindergarten, primary, and secondary students. My goal is to assist children in learning effectively and establishing a strong foundation in math, which will benefit them throughout their academic journey and beyond. I am a holder of a BSc Honors degree in Mathematical Statistics, which I completed with 5 distinctions and an average of 75%. During my time in university, I entered the world of tutoring and served as an Economics tutor. In 2021, I formally registered my own company. Since April 2022, I have been working on the business full-time.

Dedicated to helping students build confidence and competence in mathematics, I believe that every student can succeed in math with the right support and guidance. I am passionate about creating a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes.

I am a licensed professional teacher in my country. I have been teaching for almost five years now. My experience has helped me develop my skills as a teacher. I am a flexible teacher who loves to teach students. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education majoring in Math. Currently, I am teaching Math for grades 7-12.

People are different. We learn in different ways and at different speeds. That is why I prioritize my learners interests and abilities in order to best teach them. I adjust to the learners ability and speed, forming lessons in a way in which the learner processes and retains information best. To Whom It May Concern, I decided to tutor part time for the same reason I decided to become an engineer. I love learning and troubleshooting. If you want to excel in a subject, you have to discover what you like about it. My approach focuses on helping people succeed through small incremental victories. This is how we get learning back to being rewarding and fun! I developed this process for learning when I was studying Industrial Engineering at USC. I took math and math oriented classes all 4 years including courses such as Calculus II, Probability, Linear Algebra & Statistics. Some of my accomplishments in math include: receiving a 5 out of 5 on the AP Calculus test, scoring a 790 out of 800 on the math portion of the SAT, making the dean's list at USC and receiving the highest score on a Calculus II midterm in a class of 50 students. Needless to say, I know algebra like the back of my hand! Before I went to USC I would regularly volunteer as a math tutor to other students at San Luis Obispo High School. It was so rewarding to hear students share how I had taken the stress out of homework and ultimately helped them pass their classes! Learning has always been a passion of mine whether it was alone or in a group. I appreciate the opportunity to teach again and look forward to hearing how I can assist you! Quick introduction: I have been doing part-time tutoring for the past 6 years. Since I was 15 years old, I have had a strong interest in mathematics, which has allowed me to understand the best way to grasp concepts and achieve top grades. I graduated as a scholar with first-class honors from NUS and am currently working as a software engineer. Teaching math has always been enjoyable for me, and I have been teaching part-time for 6 years now. At my new convenient location (Commonwealth MRT), I am looking to continue tutoring on the side. Mathematics can be a challenging subject for many students. I believe that every child has unique learning needs and for this reason I focus on taking students back to a level with which they are comfortable and then filling in the gaps from there. This leads to improvement and success and with success comes renewed confidence in the ability to tackle more difficult mathematical concepts and problems. Using visual, animated, practical and interactive technology-based tools, I show students how Mathematics applies to them in their world. By asking students probing questions, rather than simply showing them how to answer the question, I help students develop their own problem-solving skills. This leads to independence and greater confidence in their abilities. With increased confidence comes improvement and success. I have been teaching high school Mathematics for many years and have provided tutoring services to my students as part of my support for their learning. I have taught all levels of Mathematics, from years 7 to 13, and have deep experience with university pathway Mathematics. I provide purely online services. As a result, I am available at any time that students find helpful and physical location is not significant. It is important to understand that you can learn a lot of maths in a very short period of time. It doesn’t matter where you start, you can get to where you want or need to be.
