My name is Joy and I am a third-year Economics and Statistics student at UCT. I love math because I am good at it, but I have had my fair share of struggles with the subject. I understand how frustrating it can get, especially because it is so repetitive. So, my job as a tutor is to help you understand how to do things as opposed to memorizing, which is where most students go wrong. My hope is that the students I interact with learn to love the subject as much as I do, which makes it easier for them to study as it starts to feel less like a chore and more of something they are willingly participating in. My history with tutoring goes as far back as high school. I was a teacher's aide, which means I interacted with students one-on-one to help them identify their problem areas and how to resolve them. I have also been tutoring grade 6-12 Cambridge IGCSE and CAPS math since February 2024, so I have a general understanding of what students will be tested on in their tests and exams.

I have excellent academic research and writing skills with a strong quantitative background. Additionally, I can provide homework assistance, exam preparation, as well as general tutorials. Currently, I am awaiting the start of my PhD program. I recently completed my Master's Degree in the UK, achieving an Upper Merit overall and a Distinction for my Dissertation report. Prior to this, I graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a major in Economics and Finance, and a minor in Psychology. During my time at Diocesan Girls' School, I studied in the Science stream and achieved satisfying results. I am currently residing in San Po Kong and have a dog at home. I am a Math tutor, tutoring students studying in various international schools. I tutor all year groups including Further Pure, AdvanceMath, IGCSE and IB. For young school children I teach non routine questions (olympiad style) that enhances thinking and problem solving capabilities.
