I come from the Philippines and I am currently working in Thailand as a foreign mathematics teacher since 2024. So far, I’ve really enjoyed learning about Thai culture, the language, and of course—Thai food! Math has always been one of my favorite subjects because it teaches us how to solve problems, think logically, and stay curious. Math is like a puzzle—it can be challenging, but it’s also very rewarding when you find the solution. I graduated from Saint Joseph University of Beirut with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and am currently pursuing a master’s in microbiology and infectious diseases. My name is Joy and I am a third-year Economics and Statistics student at UCT. I love math because I am good at it, but I have had my fair share of struggles with the subject.
