Hello, My name is Mike Yu and I am interested in tutoring in English. I grew up in the U.S. and spent up to a year teaching English in Korea and Japan. I have a degree in Economics and also took a course in TESOL, but most of my professional experience is in IT in the U.S. I hope to help students be confident when speaking English. It takes time, but with enough effort and comfort, English should come easily. I'm looking to transition out of IT and have a more flexible working schedule, and tutoring in English will allow this. I'm currently in the U.S., but plan to relocate back to HK around January of 2026 for a few years. I have an HK permanent ID card so I won't require any sort of visa sponsorship. My goal is to help you with your English (and Filipino) communication skills (oral and written) so that we focus on grammar, pronunciation, sentence construction, etc. It's preferable for a student to be spontaneous, but don't worry because corrections (if any) will be given constructively. The objectives will be simple and practical and the delivery of the lessons will be smooth and casual. We'll incorporate your personal interests and experiences on our lessons to make our teaching-learning process more natural, yet meaningful. This method will encourage you to communicate more because you will speak of the things that matter to you. I am a good listener. Also, if you have questions about certain subjects, or need more information about a homework assignment, I am more than willing to help (so long it's within my scope of expertise).
