I love mathematics and believe every student has the ability to understand and do well in the subject. In my experience, it is generally a small misunderstanding or gap prior knowledge that prevents students from doing well. All that is required, is to find the explanation that makes sense to the individual student. I have had students fail a grade one year and the next year achieve an 80% average in the subject when moved to my class. I am situated in Cape Town (South Africa). A student once wrote in an essay to a colleague that unlike other math teachers, I never give up or tell someone they cannot do something. I will always keep finding a new way of explaining math until it makes sense. My method requires students to make the mistakes in the contact sessions so that we can remedy the problem areas in order to not be repeated in tests or exams.

Having been through the Scottish school system, I know first hand how difficult High School exams can be. I currently hold a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree from the University of St Andrews, and I am continuing studying at the University of Edinburgh. During High School, I received straight As and took Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology to Advanced Higher level.
