Hi, I'm Dr. Schwarz! I hold the position of an associate professor of mathematics at a university in the United States. I am currently living in Hong Kong for the summer and seeking students who are interested in tutoring. After completing my mathematics PhD, I have been teaching at the university level for over 10 years. The courses I primarily teach are first-year classes such as Precalculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and I regularly teach Linear Algebra as well. Regardless of the course, I use a hands-on approach that starts with calculations to help students understand main ideas and concepts. I always keep in mind the important questions of "why are we learning this?" and "what is the significance of this and where is it applied?" I strive to answer these questions for my students because I believe it helps motivate them and enables them to make conceptual connections.

I am Elmus, and I have been tutoring since 2018. Currently, I am in my final year of studying electrical engineering at Wits University. I believe that the key to mastering a subject lies in grasping its basic concepts and practicing them until you develop a strong understanding. Over the years, I have worked with numerous learners and have derived great satisfaction from witnessing their improvement in areas where they previously struggled. My name is Stanley, and I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The intensive training I received during my time in university has strengthened my capabilities in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Science. With four years of experience tutoring Science and Mathematics in both the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) curriculum, I am confident in my ability to deliver quality and inspiring learning experiences to individual students with patience and care. Greetings and salutations! I graduated from the Singapore University of Technology and Design with a Bachelor's in Product Engineering Design. After working at DSO National Laboratories as a research engineer, I worked in Japan as a teacher for 3 years. I am able to teach Math, Science, and English confidently to a Sec 4 level, as well as help with IB projects such as IA, EE, and Philosophy, as I have participated in the IB program and have previously coached students struggling in those departments.

As a Secondary Level Math tutor, I bring along a unique blend of experience and perspective to your child. Drawing from my background as a former Product Manager in a big tech company and holding an Honours degree from NUS in Mechanical Engineering, I infuse lessons with real-world applications and problem-solving strategies, fostering a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. I hold a Ph.D. in pure mathematics and have been teaching mathematics for around 20 years at different levels. I am now working as a researcher in the field of mathematics education and my main project is to how to make mathematics interesting to students. I matriculation with a bachelor's pass which included an additional subject. I then went on to study at the University of Cape Town where I took elective courses in mathematics and statistics. I know what it feels like to struggle to understand maths because maths wasn't always smooth sailing for me. I believe that everyone is capable of succeeding with the right guidance and support. I want to be that support that helps you overcome the obstacles in your way of reaching your academic goals. Mathematics is a core subject which is why I specializes and purely focus on tutoring maths. I am based in Cape Town and offer both tutoring at my home or online, for those of you who can't attend in person sessions.

Mathematics has always been in my blood. My outstanding marks at primary, high school, and university attest to that. Since the time I graduated from university, teaching and tutoring Maths has always been my form of entertainment. I completed the first phase of my high school (O'level Cambridge Exam board - 4 years) and then I went on to do the Science stream at A'level (the last 2 years of high school, which I will refer to as Grade 12 and Grade 13 if you are writing exams set by Cambridge). In A'level, I studied Pure Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics. After that, I enrolled at university in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and studied for a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics for 4 years. I obtained a 1.1 pass. Since then, I have gained vast experience in teaching and tutoring Maths at both the high school and tertiary levels. I am familiar with virtually all the syllabuses, including Caps, IEB, Cambridge, and university modules. I simply enjoy teaching Maths, and I also have a good reputation for helping my students excel with distinctions in Maths. Let's start together now.
