I am an Ex-London Investment banker and a UK qualified actuary. I have lived in the UK for more than 10 years and am now a full-time tutor who aim to help students achieve their dreams and goals. I attended Diocesan Girls' School (DGS) for secondary education and achieved outstanding results of GCE A-levels with 3A* in Maths, Further Maths, and Chemistry while studying in the UK. Subsequently, I pursued a degree in Actuarial Science at the London School of Economics (LSE) and graduated with First-Class Honours in 2018. I worked in London and Hong Kong in Investment bank and Big 4 Accounting firms. I have six years of private tutoring experience, specializing in English and Mathematics. Students range from kindergarten to adult, and are experienced in teaching early childhood Phonics, IB/IGCSE/GCE courses, IELTS and adult business conversations. I have been tutoring in maths and chemistry to GCSE and A level for many years. I tutor on-line to small groups and individual students, using Skype and interactive boards (both the tutor and the student can write on the boards). For maths I have my own website on which students can get unlimited practice in answering questions on a full range of topics (to GCSE level and beyond). If a student makes a mistake, a line by line explanation appears demonstrating what should have been done. Lessons are for ensuring that a student understands a topic and the methods involved. I always organise worksheets and questions from past papers for my students to tackle between lessons. It is important to have plenty of practice so that learning is “active” - i.e the student is constantly involved. “Passive” learning – reading books/notes, listening to a teacher in a group, etc. has limited value, since in these situations the student has little or no participation. You don’t learn to drive a car by watching someone else, or reading/listening to instructions. You learn by driving yourself. I only aim for the highest grades with students. Some come with school predictions of lower grades, but I just ignore those predictions. My experience is that once a student starts to obtain a good grasp of all the topics (not just a general grasp of some), his or her confidence starts to increase – and with more confidence motivation also increases. Several of my students have achieved A* at A level and grade 9 at GCSE level. I have an MA in mathematics and philosophy from York University and a PGSE from Oxford University. I shall be happy to give a 30 minute free assessment, and discuss a programme for lessons so that you can start to move forward immediately. I am happy for a parent to sit in on the first lesson (or any subsequent lesson).

I am a 4th year student specializing in Physics at the University of Toronto. I understand math and physics can appear difficult at first but under the right guidance, it can become simpler to grasp and maybe even fun! My goal is to become a Professor in hopes of spreading the knowledge I learn to other students. I am hoping to gain more experience in the teaching field by tutoring others. I have tutored many other people, ranging from Grade 8 to first year. I have also taught simple math like addition, subtraction, multiplication and even how to tell time to a person who was developmentally delayed.
