My name is Christina and I currently resides in Rondebosch, Cape Town. I have found my passion in assisting and motivating struggling learners or students. I really enjoy engaging with students to empower and enrich their experiences with various subjects. I have tutored Grade 8-12 students in 2016, specifically, for mathematics and chemistry subjects. I really love translating difficult information into simpler analogies. Besides Mathematics and Chemistry subjects, I am most passionate about the Geography and Life Sciences subjects. These were all subjects that I deeply enjoyed in high school and also had an opportunity to study at a tertiary level. As a tutor, my goal is to untangle any academic problem we encounter together and build a connection with the student at the same time. I want to offer my experiences and advice whenever possible. My ability to build strong, personal relationships with the students. I understand that personal relationships are foundational to student success. The more connected a student feels to his or her tutor, the more the tutor creates trust and respect, essential ingredients for students to learn well.

I earned a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Melbourne, where I took courses in computation, game theory, data analysis, and more. I also obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from Victoria University of Technology in Australia, with my dissertation focusing on game theory. I have been tutoring students in English, mathematics, and coding since my return to Hong Kong in 2019. In mathematics tutoring, I teach general mathematics, additional mathematics, and pure mathematics from primary 4 to senior 6 in the DSE curriculum, and from year 4 to year 11 in IGCSE and IB Diploma programs. I am especially familiar with the IGCSE and IB Diploma curricula, as my son studied under these programs in Northern Ireland, and my wife is an English teacher. I have successfully assisted students in achieving their academic goals, such as helping a primary 6 student (band 3) gain admission to Malvern College, assisting a Form 1 student in progressing to Form 2 at Diocesan Boy School, and supporting a Form 6 student who initially struggled with English to improve their DSE English score from 2 to 3. Currently, my students come from various international and local schools, including Malvern College, Choi Kai Yau College, Yew Chung College, Po Chui College, and St. Francis Primary School. I am able to tailor my teaching approach to suit the individual needs of each student, and I recently completed a diploma in Introduction to Teaching English as a Second Language from Alison Corp.
