My students vary in age ranging from 14 years old up to 28 years old. I am willing to work with any student, regardless of age, if they are serious and committed to improving.
Lesson planning for each student is done explicitly for that one student. The lesson plans take into account the student's level of knowledge, their current course, skill and aptitude. I provide assignments for each session and the following class plan is based on the prior assignment and builds on the next.
Progress is measured by assessing the quality of the student's assignment work as well as answers and interaction during each session. If a student is preparing for a test at school, I work with them on the preparation, including practice tests and quizzes. Long term students are given what essentially equates to mid term or progress exams.
Yes, assignments are given for each session. The work is reviewed at the start of the next session and feedback, clarification and corrections are covered.
For both online and in person sessions, I use video segments and activities, presentations and activities, games and worksheets and knowledge tests aligned with the students current level.
This can be arranged on a student by student basis depending on additional support needed.
I typically evaluate the students current capabilities during the first meeting and then, through interaction and discussion, determine the cause of the student's struggling and adjust the approach to better engage and motivate the student with appropriate content.
I have not had any experience with special needs students to date.
