My name is Blaise Draper, I am a qualified teacher from South Africa, currently working at a (soon to be) IB accredited International School called “Kunming World Youth Academy”. I received my BA Humanities degree and PGCE qualifications from Stellenbosch University. Although I have loved working in China and my job, as well as the school, I feel the location of the school has been an increasing challenge for me.

I am dedicated, hard-working, and eager to learn. I believe that for the teacher; teaching and learning are synonymous. I am continuously looking for new ways to develop my lessons, which I know need to continuously be adapted and changed to cater to the diversity within a class. This is one of the many reasons I resonate with the values and principles promoted by IB, which I why I hope to instil my learners with the eagerness to be: inquirers, knowledgable, caring, balanced, reflective, communicators, principled, and risk takers. I was very fortunate to be provided with the opportunity to develop my own curriculum for Grade 9 History which I was extremely grateful and excited to do!

I am young and enthusiastic and believe I can bring an exciting dynamic into the learning environment. I believe that my experience in both the South African and Chinese education environment, has provided me with a unique ability to handle various and diverse learning pupils. I am a team player, patient and attentive while knowing that there needs to be a formal balance upon entering a classroom. I have a passion for History and English and consider it a gift to be able to engage with this passion in my job. Read less
