I am a qualified educator, having taught in the classroom for 6 years at different schools in Cape Town. I am first a Montessori teacher, which means I have alternative approaches to learning than the mainstream systems, and I have learned how to break tasks down into easy steps. I am passionate about teaching students how to learn, how to look at questions from different angles, and how to think through tasks independently. I have worked with many students from all over the world with English as a new language to them, and they have picked it up quite fast under my guidance. I hold a TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) certificate as well.

My teaching method is based on connection first and foremost. I get to know my students to find out how they personally learn best, and I adapt my methods to what suits them. Some students learn through physical movement, some audibly and through music, some visually. Whatever their preferred style, that is what I will prioritize. I like to use games and incorporate learning through all five senses whenever possible. I believe in making concepts concrete for students (physical) before delving into the abstract (only in your mind). Read less
