I taught secondary school mathematics (A and E Maths, and lower secondary Math) during my time in polytechnic and National Service for more than 4 years, and also worked as a 1-to-1 tutor on a part-time basis (twice a week). I have helped my students improve their grades. One Express student I tutored achieved an A1 after I guided her from Sec 3-4 for her 'O' levels. Her mother hired me to help improve her daughter's results since she had scored 60+ marks in her Sec 2 mathematics. Her mother hoped that 1-to-1 tuition would help her daughter's weakest subject, and I am pleased that she achieved the result she worked hard for.

Another student approached me based on a recommendation from the first student's mother. This student had a poor foundation in mathematics, scoring 50+ marks in her Sec 1 exams. I managed to improve her grades to 70+ marks in her 'N' level exam from the second half of Sec 2 to Sec 4. Due to her weak foundation, I spent more time than usual tutoring her. It was fulfilling to see her finally improve.

I have shared my personal journey as a late developer with my students to motivate them to work hard and be resilient. Though I was a weak student during my secondary education, I excelled in my studies post-secondary education.

I have had a successful career and continue to pursue education, including obtaining an MBA and completing a course in Full Stack Web Development. With an Electrical & Electronics Engineering degree, my knowledge is well-rounded in both hardware and software/coding. In my past and current business ventures, I have applied the skills learned during my MBA to handle financial matters in the company. I have set up accounting systems, conducted bookkeeping, prepared financial reports, and carried out financial analysis. I have also worked with external auditors and accounting firms on company registration and financial report filings with ACRA/IRAS. This practical experience will benefit me in teaching Principles of Accounts and sharing useful applications in this field.

As I transition into retirement, I am eager to start teaching part-time again. I am confident that I can pass on my knowledge and experience to the younger generation and help them excel in their studies. I look forward to mentoring and positively influencing students who may benefit from my guidance. Read less
