Questions for You

Q: What is your approach to teaching writing, and how do you help students develop their writing skills?

I help students develop their writing skills, by doing as much writing as possible.

Q: How do you help students with grammar, spelling, and punctuation?

I ask students to listen to my PowerPoint presentations and watch YouTube videos related to grammar, spelling, or punctuation topics.

Q: What is your approach to teaching reading, and how do you help students improve their reading comprehension skills?

I try to encourage students to talk more than the teacher, during a classroom session. I ask students to read on topics that interest them, and then to answer questions on those articles.

Q: How do you help students with literary analysis and critical thinking skills?

I ask students to practice reading articles, and answering questions about those articles.

Q: How do you help students with pronunciation and enunciation?

I ask them to speak and read while I correct their pronunciation. They are also encouraged to listen to English-language videos, watch English-language news reports, and view English-language movies.

Q: How do you help students with public speaking or presentation skills?

I give students tips on public speaking. I used to be a member of Toastmasters International, a global organization dedicated to improving communication and leadership skills.

Q: Can you explain complex English grammar rules in simpler terms for easier understanding?

Yes, I can. If a teacher can communicate effectively with students and maintain good rapport, they can teach any grammar rule.

Q: How do you motivate students who struggle with the language?

I try to encourage them to stay positive and keep learning, even when they feel discouraged. I remind them to focus on their goals in learning English and to stay committed until they achieve them.

Q: Are you familiar with the English curriculum and course requirements at my school?

It depends on the school. Each student goes to a different school.

Q: How do you help students prepare for English exams and assignments?

I give them various exam preparation ideas, including practice exams, and doing other online worksheets, that are available on the internet.

Q: How do you ensure that students are actively engaged during tutoring sessions?

I maintain excellent rapport with students, and communicate well with students. I encourage students to talk as much as possible, instead of having me talk.

Q: Can you help with test-taking strategies for English exams?

Yes, I have extensive experience in this area. I have helped many students in Thailand for 8 years and in South Korea for 1.5 years.

Q: Are you willing to provide additional practice problems or resources for independent study?

Yes I am. I am familiar with providing personal learning worksheets and extra exercises for students to complete.

Q: Are you able to provide assistance with English language certification exams, such as TOEFL or IELTS?

Yes, I am. I have taught high school students (at public high schools in Thailand) and adults (at language academies) the entire IELTS exam.

Q: Can you provide guidance on choosing appropriate reading materials for improving English language skills?

Yes, I can. Initially, students are assessed on their English language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Then, I suggest that they read about topics that interest them, using various sources from the internet.

Q: How do you help students with business English skills, such as writing professional emails or conducting meetings in English?

I prepare PowerPoint lessons and practice exercises (such as writing emails and letters), and I ask students to listen to recorded English conversations and answer questions about them.

Q: How do you help students with understanding and applying literary devices in English literature?

I provide students with definitions and examples of various literary devices and explain how these can be used to analyze literature.

Q: How do you encourage students to pursue their own writing interests in English?

I encourage students to read and write about topics that they are interested in.
