I have taught at the high school level and served as a tutor/ facilitator. I have also offered private chemistry tutorials to varsity students.

My name is Evariste Umba. I hold a Master's in Chemistry from the University of Cape Town, the first African University, and I am currently a PhD candidate at a university in Johannesburg. I have over 5 years of experience teaching chemistry, starting from my second year of my BSc studies where I began teaching my classmates. I was considered the best student by my analytical professor and taught at the University during my master's studies. Additionally, I have assisted private students in grades 10-12 and first year at the University. My teaching method involves providing practical examples and simulating test/exam conditions to help students succeed. I am based in Johannesburg but prefer online tutorials. I am currently a chemistry teacher in an international school, teaching IGCSE chemistry. I received my undergraduate degree from McGill University and my postgraduate degree from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Melbourne. I achieved an A* in my IGCSE chemistry and AL chemistry. 90% of my students have received A* and A grades in their exams after my tutorials. I am proficient in both English and Chinese, and offer only online courses. With an optimistic and cheerful personality, I am able to convey a positive attitude in teaching and stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning. I possess excellent communication skills and can effectively establish interactive relationships with students. My profound professional knowledge allows me to accurately grasp and impart core concepts and skills of the subject.

I graduated from the University of Oxford with a PhD in Chemistry in 2021. Working as a supervisor for chemistry master students in Oxford, I specialise in helping students to gain a deep understanding of abstract chemistry concepts, and effectively apply them in exams. I can help students with courseworks, test/exam preparation, lab reports and etc.
