My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves.

Hi, I’m a tutor from Taiwan, currently based in Thailand. My lessons are relaxed, comfortable, and focused on conversation. If you feel nervous speaking or don’t like pressure, you’ll probably feel at ease with me. Katarina is a native Mandarin speaker. She is able to understand Cantonese as well. She is using both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. Katarina loves to help students achieve their goals in study. She is a professional teacher with more than 15 years teaching experience for IB, IGCSE/GCSE , A level, AP and Ancient Chinese subjects. She used to work for an international school in Hong Kong and had three years full-time homeschooling teaching experience for a Swedish family (3 students age between 11 and 15). I do not have any teaching experience; however, I previously learned the Chinese language from Primary 1 to Primary 5 in Malaysia. During that time, I consistently received an A on my Chinese language tests. Upon moving to Singapore, I continued my studies from Primary 5 to 6 and achieved an A for my PSLE as well as an A for the level test. When it comes to teaching, I will ensure that the lessons are enjoyable for the students to learn.

I have rich tutoring experience, including DSE and international curriculum IGCSE/IB Chinese tutoring experience, and has also served as a primary school Chinese after-school tutoring class teacher for non-Chinese students. A third-year student at the University of Science and Technology, majoring in Global China Studies. The elective subjects in middle school are Chinese history and Chinese literature. Chinese language score in the public examination is level 5, and the writing and comprehensive scores are 5* respectively. I have purchased the papers and can gradually break down the HKEAA grading criteria for student's better understanding. Holding a Level 2-A (87% correct) grade in The Putonghua Proficiency Test or Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC). The teaching method is flexible and will be adjusted based on students' learning profile. I can also provide essay questions and paper correction services, and provide supplementary exercises to target students' weaknesses. I had helped a student to improve one grade in her igcse Chinese exam. I've always been impressed and encouraged by my students' preformance and their potential. I prefer having class in Tseung Kwan O district. Face to face tutorial is always better for class delivery, so I am also opened to location outside tseung kwan o depends on students' convenience. I also teach Chinese online if physical lessons can't be arranged, for online lesson, tutor fee will be charged less.
