I am a friendly, calm and patient tutor with specialised insight on the French A Level course. I have been learning French for over 6 years through conversation classes as well as the IEB and Cambridge curriculum. I graduated high school in 2023 with an A in French A Level as well as a Cambridge Award for my French exam in 2022. Through school as well as my experience staying with a French host family and travelling in France, I have developed proficient French language abilities which I would like to share through my tutoring.

The first thing I do is identify what stage of learning the learner is in. From there, it provides me with the application of materials necessary to implement a teaching program. The methodology is adapted to the intended language level, learning objectives, age of the learner, language needs, and difficulties. I teach languages in a gradual way, as clearly as possible, making the student feel comfortable, without making him/her feel afraid or embarrassed. I attach as much importance to the theoretical explanation as to the application of theory, and I require my students to be proactive, interactive, and participative. When I teach languages, I focus on understanding, speaking, reading, and writing. Specifically, I teach language as a whole: terminology, semantics (the meaning of morphemes and words and their combinations), and the branches of grammar: morphology (the form and structure of words), sentence syntax (the way words are combined), and word prosody (pronunciation). I teach languages by applying dynamic teaching strategies, using activities involving the learner, such as exercises, production of written and verbal speeches, games, staging real-life situations, dialogues, debates, reading, listening to the media, etc. The teaching materials I use are effective and meet the following criteria: motivating, attractive, up-to-date (current, relevant topics), clear, appropriate (approachable), inclusive (various possibilities for interaction and different points of view), multi-modal (varied), participatory, flexible (adaptable), and creative (original).

Hello! I'm Casey, I'm a HKer who grew up in Toronto, Canada and am back in HK for a couple of months. I grew up in the French Immersion program, meaning I learned all subjects in French up until high school! I have a Bachelors of Science from the University of Toronto where I studied Computational Biology and Psychology, and I will be returning to the University of Toronto for my Master of Arts in Psychology this year. In the couple of months that I am back in HK, I'm offering classes to any students looking to speak with/be tutored by an English or (Canadian) French native. I've tutored for nearly a decade of my life for students from Grades 1 to 10 in a variety of subjects like English, French, Math, Science, Computer Science, and Social Sciences.
