I graduated with an MEng Honours degree in Materials Science from the University of Oxford. With a strong academic record, I am well-grounded in the key elements of applied Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. I also understand the tools and techniques required to succeed in examinations and applications up to this level, including 11+ and 13+ common entrance exams. I have experience tutoring international school students in science and mathematics, following the UK Curriculum, in Hong Kong. Prior to this, I supported Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) activities in a school environment as part of The Flying Start Challenge. This competition was designed for students in Years 7 to 9 and focused on teaching the fundamentals of flight and assisting groups with their project work. During these experiences, I taught in front of large classes and provided support to smaller groups. Additionally, I have taught English as a foreign language to adults. In this role, I prepared lesson materials, marked homework, and reviewed answers in class. One of the challenges I faced was preparing material that catered to the different levels of English within the class. I am currently in my third year completing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at HKU. I graduated from Renaissance College in 2022, after completing the IBDP programme. I am from the UK, but in the last 12 years, I have lived in Germany, Argentina, and Spain. In 2020, I completed my PhD in Theoretical Ecology before working for two years as a researcher in the field. My academic specialties are biology, mathematics, and computer science, though I also studied physics at the undergraduate level. English is my native language, but my Spanish is excellent, and I would be comfortable teaching either language.
