I would rather find 20 ways to explain a topic to get my student to understand it, than for them to pretend to get it and forget it later. If possible, I tend to use things familiar to the student such as interests to help them easier understand the concept. I am comfortable teaching anything in O levels math and advanced mathematics, and if needed up to polytechnic engineering math.
