People are different. We learn in different ways and at different speeds. That is why I prioritize my learners interests and abilities in order to best teach them. I adjust to the learners ability and speed, forming lessons in a way in which the learner processes and retains information best. With me as a tutor, not only will you be learning so much, you will also enjoy doing it in the way that best suits you.

Mathematics can be a challenging subject for many students. I believe that every child has unique learning needs and for this reason I focus on taking students back to a level with which they are comfortable and then filling in the gaps from there. This leads to improvement and success and with success comes renewed confidence in the ability to tackle more difficult mathematical concepts and problems. Using visual, animated, practical and interactive technology-based tools, I show students how Mathematics applies to them in their world. By asking students probing questions, rather than simply showing them how to answer the question, I help students develop their own problem-solving skills. This leads to independence and greater confidence in their abilities. With increased confidence comes improvement and success. I have been teaching high school Mathematics for many years and have provided tutoring services to my students as part of my support for their learning. I have taught all levels of Mathematics, from years 7 to 13, and have deep experience with university pathway Mathematics. I provide purely online services. As a result, I am available at any time that students find helpful and physical location is not significant. It is important to understand that you can learn a lot of maths in a very short period of time. It doesn’t matter where you start, you can get to where you want or need to be. I’m confident that I can help you achieve your goals.

I have been teaching science and math to secondary students for more than 4 years. My speciality areas are high school chemistry, primary and secondary mathematics, and IB math essays.

My name is Khirunisa Pillay and I am a 2nd-year medical student who achieved 7 As in matric. I am originally from Durban and am currently studying at the University of Pretoria. I have a deep love for volunteer work and testing out new recipes in the kitchen. My personal academic struggles mean I have an understanding that subjects like math can be daunting and overwhelming, but I am confident that with my prior experience in tutoring and passion for helping others, I can make this an exciting experience!

I love mathematics and believe every student has the ability to understand and do well in the subject. In my experience, it is generally a small misunderstanding or gap prior knowledge that prevents students from doing well. All that is required, is to find the explanation that makes sense to the individual student. I have had students fail a grade one year and the next year achieve an 80% average in the subject when moved to my class. I am situated in Cape Town (South Africa). A student once wrote in an essay to a colleague that unlike other math teachers, I never give up or tell someone they cannot do something. I will always keep finding a new way of explaining math until it makes sense. My method requires students to make the mistakes in the contact sessions so that we can remedy the problem areas in order to not be repeated in tests or exams.

I am Thomas Magaya based in Witbank, Mpumalanga. I have a wealth of experience(20years) teaching Mathematics and quite familiar and comfortable with CAPS from grade 6 level to grade 11. As such I am able to diagnose learning difficulties and analyse gaps and give appropriate remedial and corrective action and boost the confidence of the learners in the subject. I also offer assistance in Natural Sciences and Physical Sciences up to grade 10. I take consideration of individual differences and give tasks appropriate to one's developmental stage thus allowing individuals to proceed at their own pace. I am flexible and allow for exploration of alternative approaches if a wall is hit and progress looks minimal. Most importantly, I encourage learners to set their own goals.

Having been through the Scottish school system, I know first hand how difficult High School exams can be. I currently hold a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree from the University of St Andrews, and I am continuing studying at the University of Edinburgh. During High School, I received straight As and took Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology to Advanced Higher level. I was awarded prizes for highest S5 attainment, as well as top in the country for Higher Chemistry and Advanced Higher Physics. I have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a true passion for teaching others and sharing knowledge. Flexible and willing to work at an appropriate pace, whilst also pushing hard to get the desired results.

I love teaching and learning Mathematics and Physics conceptually. I connect the dots by relating concepts in the textbook to real-life scenarios and use anecdotes and humor to solidify understanding. This is how I learned to study effectively in high school and students came to me for help (which was really fun!) I reside in Northcliff and am a first-year Computer Science student at the University of the Witwatersrand. I am surrounded by Maths all day, every day, and I am majoring in Physics.

I am a member of the IMA (Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications) and hold a BSc Honours degree in Mathematics from Sussex University.
