I want to do my part to fix this systemic educational problem, by reaching out to younger kids to encourage them to not just chase grades, but to achieve true mathematical enlightenment, and to start building things from scratch by themselves. I want them to focus on real-world problems, and to grapple with their intricacies until they themselves find the solutions. I don't want kids to grow into adults who believe that "somebody smarter than them will take care of the details" (which is how most programming is done these days sadly), I want kids who will grow up to be the people who solve those problems, and I'm confident that I can empower young students with potential to solve the complex problems facing the world today without needing to rigidly follow dogmatic "best-practices."

Hello, my name is Mashael Fakhro. I have an irrational passion for math, possibly due to the positive reinforcement of answering questions correctly, the joy of seeing patterns that were once hidden, and the purity and elegance of a language which can get us closer to discerning what's true from what isn't, in a world with quite a bit of deception. My training includes IB HL Math, an Applied Math BA at Harvard University (2011), 4 years of math tutoring for ages 6-14 and a Montessori diploma for ages 3-6. I'm specifically interested in working with individuals who would benefit from a conversational, intuitive and visual approach, and who like to be engaged during sessions, such as through using playing cards or asking questions.
