In order to assist the student, I always ask if he/she has tried to solve the problem or which part he/she finds difficult. In that way, I could determine what help should I provide. The session should be proactive, I make sure my students participates in the entire session as it is also my way of identifying whether the student gets the lesson that the tutor is trying to teach.
