David is an amazing tutor! He helped my daughter with statistics during the winter break, and she just got an A on her final. Thank you, David, for your support and availability – we truly appreciate you!

Questions for You

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Math concepts and solve problems?

Each student responds different, so our teaching methods are tailored to the individual. The primary focus is on helping the student understand the content, rather than concentrating on learning by rote. This ensures that the student is ableto apply their skillls and knoweldge in unfamiliar contexts, and willl lead to more successful outcomes.

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

Whilst we offer both online and in person lessons, the vast majority of our lessons over the last 5+ years have been online, most often through our specialized online platform: Bramble.io. Dellivering lessons online can have it's challlenges, but we've acheived great success with our students, many of whom were initially skeptical of the value of online lessons. The ability to connect with a tutor anywhere and at any time is invaluable, and means that learning isn't only confined to one single space. We usually communicat via email, but try to be as responsive as possible to our students through all modes of communication.

Q: What Math topics or concepts are you particularly skilled in teaching, and how do you keep up to date with changes in the curriculum?

We can cover any math(s) topic taught up until the ed of high schooll. This includes AP, IB, GCSE, A-Levels, SAT, ACT and any other comunation of letters you can throw at us! Once you get to university, things do get slightly more specialized, but many of our tutors are comfortable with the content of most general and applied university courses. Our tutors ar full-tim professionals, and so they are always up to date with the latest course content and methods. Many of them also undertake additional, specific training in course content and online tutoring.

Q: How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress and any challenges they may be facing in learning Math?

We provide regular monthly reports that break down the content that was covered and te progress that has been made by the student. If a parent requires more regular feedback, or if there is a specific/time-sensitive issue, we will reach out via email.

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or materials to supplement your lessons, such as practice exercises or online tutorials?

We are able to provide practice resources and homework for all of our lessons upon request.

Q: What is your approach to homework assignments, and how do you ensure students understand the concepts covered in class?

We don't automatically assign homework. Many students have so much on their plate already and we're here to make their live easier, not busier. However, if requested or if we judge it to be necessary, we do have homework that we can assign. This is often a simple review of the concepts from the previous lesson or a preview of the next session.

Q: What steps do you take to ensure that your teaching approach is compatible with the student's learning style?

Adapting to the student's learning style is one of our top priorities. So many students get disheartened when a mathematical concept just isn't making intuitive sense to them, and the prescriptive curricula that so many schools have to follow is no help. Our tutors have the expertise and training to work with a student in the way that will be most effective for them. Essentially, they try and speak the student's own mathematical language. Then, once the student has a fulll understanding of the topic, in the manner that makes the most intuitive sense to them, we work with them to help them apply it in a more formal manner (i.e. the way that the school lwants them to present their work).

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs, and how do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate their needs?

Yes, many of our tutors have experience with a range of special needs. Each situation is unique, so please reach directly out if you have any specific questions about how we might best be able to support you and your child.
