Of course, this all depends on the ages of my students, but I would initially encourage reading and then work on developing their grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.

Find out their interests in particular topics & then source good books in those topics to share with my students.

Ask them lots of questions encouraging my students to think beyond the topic.

Work on their phonic skills & encouraging correct enunciation.

Give them opportunities to present a topic to an audience & encouraging them to work as a group & present as a group too.

Yes, all grammar rules need to be broken down & explained to our students using accurate examples.

Encouragement with fun games & activities making it fun & interactive to learn in a informal manner.
