In the past 15 years, I have tutored over 200 students of different proficiency levels, mostly expatriates and international students ranging from 6 years old to 60 years old. When tutoring students, I seek first to understand the students' perspective and how they approach the subject. I find it important to establish good rapport and effective communication with students in order to comprehend their views on the subject matter and the challenges they face. By identifying their weaknesses, working individually with them becomes more effective in helping them develop a new learning curve.
