Hello, prospective students. My name is Lana Thomas. I am 31 years old. I have BS degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics. I've also obtained my teaching qualifications for English. I am currently working on completing the practical component to obtain my full qualifications for Chemistry and Maths. My hobbies include watching anime, playing games, and reading novels/comics/mangas. I live in Bangkok, Thailand. I enjoy exploring the city and reading in nice quiet places.

As a teacher, I have 3 specialties: English, Maths, and Sciences. My favourite subjects to teach are Chemistry, English for Communication, Speech & Debate, and Writing 101. Chemistry is my all-time favourite subject since I was 6 years old. My recent chemistry experience was at two different international schools in China. I taught IGCSE Chemistry as well as Alberta Chemistry. The other 3 represent the areas I've actively taught the most since living in Southeast Asia for the past 7 years. I've worked with kids, teens, and adults.

My teaching style is strict yet fun and relaxed. I love my teaching environments to be comfortable and safe spaces for learning together. I am big on motivating students and encouraging participation from them. My overall goal is to get my students from A to B, where A is where they currently are and B is where they want to be.

As a teacher, I am funny, kind, patient, and understanding. I find it's best to tailor each learning experience to the student to maximise their time and focus on the skills they wish to learn/improve. Read less

I tend to favour task-based learning. I introduce the topic with a warm-up then present the main content for the lesson. Afterwards, there are activities designed for students practice the content in a guided way. This is followed up further clarification then free-practice.

I like to link content to its real-world applications to help students see the links between the on-paper knowledge and its application out in the world. Read less
