Questions for You

Q: What age range of students do you usually work with?

I work with any interested person of age 14-99+ as my system is very flexible and can suit needs of people on almost any current and aspired levels of musical experience and expertise.

Q: How do you approach lesson planning and preparation?

I develop and update interactive web-apps, that visualize various music and arts concepts. Then we explore the sonic capabilities of these tools. And apply acquired knowledge to inform new periods of self-guided practice.

Q: How do you measure progress and assess learning outcomes for your students?

At our first meeting we determine your current level of theorhetical knowledge and practical experience in music and discuss your goals and aspirations in this limitless space. We define a clear goal to get to and set a schedule for a set period from 1 week up to 3 months.

Q: Do you provide regular homework and assignments, and how do you review and provide feedback on student work?

After each lesson I give homework that student must prepare before the next. And in the beginning of the next lesson we will check and reflect on the results of homework.

Q: What technology or resources do you use to enhance your lessons, particularly for online sessions?

We use my own toolbox of free and open-source interactive web-apps, that are available at https://chromatone.center and are sufficient to guide an independent learner into deepest parts of music theory. I try my best to make the apps as intuitive as possible, but nothing compares to live demos with instant feedback and running explanations.

Q: Do you provide any additional support outside of scheduled lesson times, such as answering questions via email or phone?

We will start a closed Discord community for students.

Q: Do you have any specific strategies for motivating students who may be struggling or disengaged with the subject material?

I also sell stickers for music instruments, that may open up your instrument in front of you! Obscure frets and keys suddenly become distinct colorful notes. And you can see them across instruments and web apps.

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning differences or special needs?

Everyone is unique and I don't set particular boundary between educational needs of my students. We can set any pace and any goal that suits your situation.
