Questions for You

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Math concepts and solve problems?

Differential Instruction, to ensure I address the varied skill levels and learning styles of my students. Direct Instruction, to introduce new concepts. Guided Discovery, to promote critical thinking and deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. Socratic method, to effectively develop reasoning skills and conceptual understanding Problem-Based Learning, to apply mathematical concepts to practical solutions and enhance problem solving abilities. -- This is the most important when it some to teaching mathematics in my opinion.

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

Yes. I prefer in person session or online sesssion where both me and the students have our camera's on; and have access to hardware like tablets to enable us to communicate and collaborate effectively. My preferred method of communication is via email or text.

Q: What Math topics or concepts are you particularly skilled in teaching, and how do you keep up to date with changes in the curriculum?

Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry and Differential Equations. I keep up to date with current curriculum changes by reading academic articles and reviewing recent exam papers.

Q: How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress and any challenges they may be facing in learning Math?

I feel communicating updates to parents regularly is imperitive to ensure success. Depending on the time of year I might give updates daily, weekly or monthly, depending on the scope of work to be discussed. Communicating with parents is also dependent on the age and maturity of the student. Everyone involved should have a common goal in mind for any additional tutoring sessions to be succesfull.

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or materials to supplement your lessons, such as practice exercises or online tutorials?

When it is test season I always get additional material ready to ensure the student has all the support required to do well in their studies.

Q: What is your approach to homework assignments, and how do you ensure students understand the concepts covered in class?

Practice makes perfect, thus I provide a few "home work" exercises often to determine if concepts were understood. I also encourage students to try problems during the session and show me what they are doing to ensure they understand before the session ends.

Q: What steps do you take to ensure that your teaching approach is compatible with the student's learning style?

I believe in differential instruction, tailoring my teaching methods to suit the varied skills and learning styles of my students. However I also believe that communication and trust is key, I have an open relationship with my students to enable them to tell me when a concept still isn't clear. I also give examination questions as homework periodically to test whether or not a concept is still understood after moving on to new concepts and topics.

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs, and how do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate their needs?

Yes, I have taught students of all walks of life. I adapt my teaching style to accomodate each student accordingly. If something doesnt work for a student I will try a different methood until the student is comfortable and grasps the concepts.
