Questions for You

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Math concepts and solve problems?

Personally I believe a combination of leading by solving examples and picture visualisations it key to fully grasping a mathematical concept. I also frequent colloquial analogies in hopes that students can form a connection between maths and daily life.

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

I prefer a mixture of online and in person. For concept introduction classes, I prefer online teaching with slide decks. A month prior to student exams, I believe in person instruction is key.

Q: What Math topics or concepts are you particularly skilled in teaching, and how do you keep up to date with changes in the curriculum?

Calculus, algebra and probability are my strong suits. I update myself through constant communication at least a week prior to class.

Q: How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress and any challenges they may be facing in learning Math?

I prefer to be honest and seek the parents' advice when the student faces difficulties. After all the parents and I went through the same process and I'd appreciate all the help I get.

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or materials to supplement your lessons, such as practice exercises or online tutorials?

If the student requests practice exercises I would be more than happy to provide them. But I would also need to base it off of past papers of the students' institution. Online tutorials are one of my key beliefs in achieving mathematical success.

Q: What is your approach to homework assignments, and how do you ensure students understand the concepts covered in class?

I save the last part of class to watch students complete harder questions in their homework to ensure they have no problem taking on easier ones.

Q: What steps do you take to ensure that your teaching approach is compatible with the student's learning style?

I communicate openly with the student and their parents to ensure the right fit. After all, compatible communication takes time and patience from both ends.

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs, and how do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate their needs?

Unforunately, I do not have experience so far with students with learning disabilities but I have volunteered to teach at a special needs primary school to gain first hand experience. It;s been going great so far!
