Hi, my name is Paul and my job is to help you improve your English and Math. I am from the UK, where I got my degree in English language and literature, and I have been working as an English and Math teacher here in Singapore for 10 years. Before completing my degree, I worked as an engineer for 2 years. I have experience with students of all ages and nationalities, having taught in tuition centers and international schools. I have learned different teaching methods and incorporated them into my lessons to make them interesting and engaging for both kids and adults.
I am able to design, plan, prepare, and teach according to your specific needs. Throughout the years, I have helped many students improve their English and Math skills, turning their weaknesses into strengths. I have worked with students aged 8 to 18, covering exams such as PSLE, IGCSE, SAT, and SSAT. My students come from various schools like UWC, SAS, SAIS, Dulwich College, as well as local MOE schools. With adult students, I tailor lessons to their individual goals.
One memorable success story involves a Japanese man I helped for 3 years to pass his TOEIC test. His promotion and relocation to America highlighted the impact of our work together. When learning English, setting achievable goals like learning song lyrics or understanding movie dialogues can be more beneficial than setting unrealistic targets. Learning a language is a journey of discovery, so enjoy the process and marvel at what you learn along the way. Read less

I have used the hands-off teaching method for many years and it has proven to work every time. Hands-off teaching doesn’t mean you disengage from your students. Instead, it refers to a teaching strategy where you encourage students to become more active in their own learning. Often, students expect their teacher to distil the important information and provide the answer to every question. You ask your students to distil information themselves and they answer their own questions. Read less
