I assess to identify needs. Then I model write in the genre required, highlighting features. I provide a number of hands on, interactive activities that we work on together with resources. Then I ask the student to write using features required of the genre. I praise their effort. I mark and address any misconceptions and allow time for the up levelling of writing.
Each English session I spend some time on focused SPaG work. I introduce a rule, demonstrate its use verbally and in writing. Then I play a few interactive games using the rule, after which I ask the child to carry out written exercises using the rule. I will then challenge them with more complex aspects. Exposure to SPaG, Reinforcement, repetition and extension allow my student to flourish academically.
I ensure the child is familiar with the Phonics and common exception words and provide teaching of this if it is missing. I will provide phonetically decipherable text and questions about the text. In stages I will introduce more challenging texts and questions. As the language acquisition develops I will introduce strategies to help answer questions around retrieval, inference, vocabulary prediction, explanation and summary or sequencing.
I will teach the student to identify the key facts. Then I will demonstrate how to make assertions about the text. By providing a scaffolding approach I give opportunity for the development of literary analysis. I will also request they show me evidence of the process they chose.
I speak with an English accent. I will model the pronunciation and enunciation of words and phrases. I will also explain how and why as there are always nuances in languages.
I have always found these 5 things support children with public speaking and presentation to a high standard and therefore these are what I adhere to when supporting students with public speaking and presentation. Namely these are: Planning - extensive Preparation - thorough Practice - till you are happy Performance - enjoy it Passion - in everything you are talking or presenting about. I encourage, support, cheerlead and model each of these in order for a student to achieve success.

I have extensive experience of the UK national curriculum and have taught this curriculum for many years. As an educator I am able to take learning objectives from your school snd teach what is required.

This is an expectation of mine. I will set my expectations from my first session. I will demonstrate why we need to be actively engaged and explain what the benefits of doing do eould be. I will ensure activities ensure child participation and involvement.
Yes I can support with test strategies.
I often provide some form of homework for the student to do. This shows me what they have remembered Ince I'm not there and allows for extra practice. I have no problem offering independent study tasks and resources.
I could if required to fo so.
Yes I can.

I will teach the different devices. Then I will show where they are being used. Next I will discuss what effect these have and why the author/poet chose these.
I ask them to document their interests in a variety of ways, newspaper article, video news report, diary etc. Children are eager to write about their interests if they are allowed to present it in interesting ways.
