I design my classes to be interactive and resemble more a conversation than a typical class at school. Through the conversation I figure out in which areas the student is struggling. We target those underlying struggles and bit by bit build a solid foundation for more complex topics.
I give classes online in three different languages. Using a laptop and a tablet with screen sharing I draw and write during the conversation (aka class).
Due to my PhD in physics I am proficient in all areas of maths reaching from secondary level to undergraduate university level. I taught students with different curricula from around the world. Due to the interactive style of my class I easily adapt to the needs of the individual student.
Again, due to my interactive approach I have a good sense of the level of understanding. Within the very first classes I already know what areas the student is struggling with even though it's may not have been the discussed topics. Usually difficulties in math come from previous understanding that is missing. I identify it and we work on it bit by bit. If asked, I provide an insightful report over the strenghts and weaknesses of the child and explain the strategy to work on the weaknesses.
I usually work with the student's learning material. Sometimes, I realize it's insufficient and I provide additional exercises that align more with the actual required learning steps for the student.
Again, as I have an interactive approach I get to know my students well. I work with the student's learning material which ensures that the student can keep up with the concepts in class.
The answer lies in getting to know the student. As my classes are more like a conversation it is easy to adapt to the student's needs.
I worked with students who struggle with attention deficit (ADHD) and help them going through the necessary thought processes for their math exercises.
