Questions for You

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Math concepts and solve problems?

I use different methods depending on the level the student is at. For younger students, visual aids during lessons help a lot to master concepts, for older students I emphasize on more practical examples so that they are familiar with the type of questioning to expect. I always emphasize that subjects like maths are more praxis than theoretical hence the students should be encouraged to engage fully into the subject and make it their own

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

Yes I have done virtual tutoring. During these classes I often use presentations as we go through lessons and include using online tools such as AI engines to help student go over their work and understand deeper concepts behind the theory. there are many tools that I incorporate in teaching that enhances the visual aspects of tutoring

Q: What Math topics or concepts are you particularly skilled in teaching, and how do you keep up to date with changes in the curriculum?

I am skilled in teaching Algebra, Calculus and Geometry. I am always fascinated and use resources from youtube to different texts to familiarise myself with different approaches and methods used to teach these sections. I follow closely the curriculum communication to make sure I am upto date

Q: How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress and any challenges they may be facing in learning Math?

I have used progress reports in most cases. After every lesson I write down my observations and after 3 or 4 lessons I have a communication with the parent on what I have observed to make sure they know what is happening before it is too late

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or materials to supplement your lessons, such as practice exercises or online tutorials?

Yes in almost every lesson, the more the work the student does the better it is to assess their progress

Q: What is your approach to homework assignments, and how do you ensure students understand the concepts covered in class?

Give homework periodically and after every lesson. Allow time to revise and look at the homework before every new lesson starts and more importantly emphasize the need for the student to submit their homework in time so that they learn other soft skills such as time management. I treat tutorial classes as if they were actual classes at school, blurring that difference is the key to make sure the student actually engages

Q: What steps do you take to ensure that your teaching approach is compatible with the student's learning style?

communication is key. I try to always emphasize at the start that the student should be free to communicate how they understand and where they may fall short. I then employ different methods progressively to make sure that they understand. I often see that after 3 or 4 lessons its quite easy to understand the method a student understands and prefers to be taught

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs, and how do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate their needs?

I have had students who needed extra time to understand. I designed our lessons such that they would get more time to do a fewer topics and then we would have more revision time. I always give them work periodically to observe how they work and I try to match that to their strengths while making sure we cover the weaknesses as well
