Questions for You

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Math concepts and solve problems?

My approach is try to get a grasp of the kids level of understanding, then apply Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development and hence use scaffolding accordingly .

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

Yes since past 5 years i have tutored Chinese, Malaysian, Taiwanese and Korean kids online . Even currently I have online kids. I use Zoom or Tencent Meetings for kids in China specifically.

Q: What Math topics or concepts are you particularly skilled in teaching, and how do you keep up to date with changes in the curriculum?

IGCSE, A Levels. IBMYP / DP PYP I am aware of all curriculum. I am a full time international school maths teacher in China and have to undergo PD every academic year as part of the job .

Q: How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress and any challenges they may be facing in learning Math?

WhatsApp and Wechat to communicate. Usually chat is enough, very rare parents needs to have a telephonic discussion.

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or materials to supplement your lessons, such as practice exercises or online tutorials?

Yes, plenty of practice exercises, both topical and Past exam questions.

Q: What is your approach to homework assignments, and how do you ensure students understand the concepts covered in class?

I give nominal homework so kids can review what they learnt in the class. During the class, I let the students write /on shared whiteboard and check if they can do all the steps correctly.

Q: What steps do you take to ensure that your teaching approach is compatible with the student's learning style?

I use differentiation techniques in this scenario. Every kid is different when it comes to math skills .

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs, and how do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate their needs?

With kids with SEN, I usually take a very slow approach. Try to build a rapport with the kid, and make him develop an interest in maths, before trying to teach him new concepts.
