Questions for You

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Math concepts and solve problems?

I use a combination of inquiry-based learning and problem-solving strategies. I believe that students learn math best by actively doing math, so constant practice is essential. After every lecture, I provide short assessments to check their understanding and identify areas that need improvement. This helps me tailor the next session to address their specific learning needs.

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

Yes, I do. I’ve been conducting online tutorials for almost five years. I prefer using Zoom because it’s simple and efficient. Its whiteboard feature allows me to see how students write their solutions, making it easier to correct their equations and assess their level of understanding and analysis.

Q: What Math topics or concepts are you particularly skilled in teaching, and how do you keep up to date with changes in the curriculum?

I am confident in discussing all math topics from elementary to senior high school. Since I have been continuously teaching for the last 6 years, I am abreast with the current DepEd curriculum. In cases wherein I handled international students, I asked the students or the parents to send me a copy of the curriculum before our actual engagement to ensure that I have a full understanding of the expected flow of discussion.

Q: How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress and any challenges they may be facing in learning Math?

I usually provide specific feedback through email or WhatsApp. I usually discuss the student's progress by informing them the performance of the student in class and the areas that still need to be improved. Similarly, I also inform them if there is a need to increase the time for the session.

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or materials to supplement your lessons, such as practice exercises or online tutorials?

Yes, I do provide supplementary materials like practice exercises.

Q: What is your approach to homework assignments, and how do you ensure students understand the concepts covered in class?

I always give assessments after the lecture.

Q: What steps do you take to ensure that your teaching approach is compatible with the student's learning style?

After giving assessments, I will check the solution carefully and pinpoint specific parts of the solution that are correct and incorrect. Should it be the case that the result of the assessment shows that the student has a poor understanding of the topic, I will provide additional examples, and I will use a different teaching style.

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs, and how do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate their needs?

Yes, I have had several experiences of handling students with ADHD. Observation of the students and their learning styles is a must in order to effectively construct a strategy to be used in teaching. There are times when I have to change my teaching style so it would be at par with the students' learning style.
