My approach to teaching writing begins with exploring strong examples of the type of writing we're focusing on. I guide students to analyze these models and understand the key features. Then, I support them in creating their own version by first modelling the writing together, and gradually encouraging them to write independently. I always encourage creativity and imagination, but also help them stay within the structure and purpose of the task. This balance helps students develop both confidence and clarity in their writing.
I take a continuous, consistent approach to teaching grammar, spelling, and punctuation...it’s a non-negotiable part of every lesson. Much of this is reinforced through regular reading practice, which naturally builds awareness of correct language use. I also encourage students to identify and correct their own mistakes, as well as edit and improve the work of others. This not only sharpens their technical skills but also builds a stronger sense of responsibility and attention to detail in their writing.
I believe daily reading is key to building strong comprehension skills. I start by choosing texts that match the student’s interests to get them engaged, and then gradually introduce more challenging and diverse reading materials. This helps expand their vocabulary and understanding over time. Each reading session is followed by carefully chosen comprehension questions that develop key skills like inference, retrieval, summarising, and understanding vocabulary in context.
I help students build literary analysis and critical thinking skills through thought-provoking comprehension and higher-order thinking questions. We don’t just look at what happens in a text, but explore why it happens, how it’s written, and what it means. I also encourage students to make real-life connections to the themes and characters, which helps them think more deeply and critically about what they’re reading.
I use live examples and regular listening activities to help students hear and understand correct pronunciation. We practice speaking together, focusing on clear enunciation and stress patterns. Listening to native speakers through audio clips or videos also helps students develop an ear for the language, and I guide them to repeat, mimic, and practice until they gain confidence and clarity in their speech.
I use fun and engaging activities like storytelling, loud reading, speech games, and memorising short pieces to build students’ confidence in public speaking. These activities help them practice voice projection, clarity, and expression in a relaxed and enjoyable way. Over time, they become more comfortable speaking in front of others and learn how to organise and deliver their ideas clearly and confidently.
Yes, I often begin with a simple, easy-to-understand explanation of a grammar rule and then gradually introduce more detailed aspects as the student becomes comfortable. This step-by-step approach helps prevent overwhelm and builds a solid foundation, making complex grammar more accessible and manageable.
I motivate students by incorporating enjoyable activities like watching movies, which helps improve their grasp of the language in a natural and engaging way. Alongside this, I use reading and writing games and start with easier tasks to build their confidence, gradually moving to more challenging work. This approach keeps learning fun and motivating while supporting steady progress.
I am familiar with both the CBSE and British curriculum and have experience adapting my teaching to meet the specific requirements of these systems. Additionally, I am flexible and confident in adjusting my approach to suit other curriculam as needed to support each student’s success
I support students through continuous practice, regular sessions, and focused revision classes. When needed, I also offer extra sessions leading up to exams or important assignments. My approach includes reviewing key topics, practicing past paper questions, and strengthening weak areas to build confidence and improve performance.
I keep my lessons interactive by including discussions, fun activities, and relatable examples. I also pay close attention to the student’s energy and focus, taking short breaks when needed to avoid burnout. Creating a relaxed and enjoyable environment helps students stay engaged and look forward to learning.
Yes, I help students develop effective test-taking strategies, such as how to manage their time, understand question types, plan their answers, and eliminate wrong options in multiple-choice questions. We also practice using past papers and timed exercises to build confidence and improve performance under exam conditions.
Yes, I regularly provide homework and extra practice tasks to support independent study. I’m also happy to use a few extra minutes during lessons to guide students through these resources and ensure they know how to use them effectively.
Not at the moment, but it's an area I'm genuinely interested in, and I plan to explore it further so I can offer support in the future.
Yes, definitely. I recommend reading materials based on the student’s age, school year, and curriculum. I choose texts that are both engaging and level-appropriate, gradually increasing difficulty to build vocabulary, comprehension, and overall language skills.
I currently specialize in teaching Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 students, so I don’t offer formal training in business English at this stage. However, we do explore formal writing styles when appropriate, laying a strong foundation that can support more advanced skills later on.
I use engaging reading materials to introduce literary devices, helping students identify and discuss them in context. We reinforce their understanding through matching activities, creative writing tasks, and fun quizzes where they apply the devices themselves. This hands-on approach makes it easier for students to recognize and use literary techniques with confidence.
I encourage students to explore their writing interests by connecting tasks to real-life scenarios that spark their imagination. I tailor prompts to align with their personal hobbies and interests, making writing feel fun, meaningful, and engaging.
