My name is Michael Stack. I studied a BA in Music at the University of Cape Town and completed my PGCE in Music at Stellenbosch University. I have been teaching music theory for eight years, during which time numerous learners have achieved distinctions and many have been listed on the UNISA roll of honor. I firmly believe that learners should study music theory early on so that they are properly prepared for the music subject and BMus entry requirements. I hold high expectations for both myself and my learners. I take a class subject approach to music theory, where the curriculum is structured and taught in preparation for a music theory exam. Weekly homework is a given, and once the syllabus is taught, it is followed by an intensive exam paper preparation program. I am fluent in English and have developed a grasp of Afrikaans in music while teaching music theory in dual medium classrooms, using bilingual teaching resources. I offer lessons from grade 1 to 5 UNISA, as well as grade 6 ABRSM and can teach. Read less
