Haishun Yin currently completed her master’s courses of TESOL at the University of Auckland and she is developing her teaching skills in New Zealand as an ESOL and IELTS teacher. She has nine years’ teaching experience in a vocational college. She started voluntary ESOL teaching work in English Language Partners from December of 2019 was awarded the certificate of teaching as a home tutor in New Zealand. She is a capable and conscientious teacher who is passionate about keeping up to date with the latest methodologies for teaching bilingual and international students.

I am an English and philosophy teacher with over a decade of experience, currently living in Hong Kong. My qualifications include a degree in English, PGCE, MPhil, and MSc from Trinity College Dublin. I am trained in elocution, and as an undergraduate, I competed in debating competitions at a world level. I also have experience in interviewing for university placements.

I am delighted to be able to teach you or your child English! I am deeply passionate about English, having recently finished my Honours degree in English literature, and hope one day to become an academic in English. Currently I live in Sumner, New Zealand, and am happy to teach in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. I am happy to teach English either as a school or university subject, or as a second language, depending on your needs. I have experience teaching a variety of different age groups, including NCEA preparation and primary level English. I have received immensely positive feedback. My secondary students in particular, have told me that my approach has immensely clarified such mystifying topics as essay writing, critical readings, and how to navigate NCEA assignments. I have extensive experience with the NCEA system, having gained a Level 3 excellence endorsement, and scholarships in English, Classics, and History. Additionally, I am also experienced with helping second language speakers. I have volunteered as a conversation leader with my University's ESL centre, and also often help out non-native speaker friends with proofreading assignments, etc. I also speak relatively fluent German and low intermediate Spanish, if this is of help. My approach is friendly, patient, and dedicated to the needs of my students. I am available evenings, weekends, and some afternoons.
