I've been working in child development and education for eight years, the past two years as a Learning Support Specialist at an international school. This experiance has allowed me to work with children from the ages of 4 to 12, with varying levels of ability and challenge. Through this I was able to develop a greater understanding of how different people learn and the resources that can help them in accessing academic materials and promoting academic acceleration. My international upbringing as well as years of both attending and working in international contexs contributes to my ability to connect with people of different cultural and social backgrounds. I am a year 3 medical student studying at HKU and I am currently spending my enrichment year abroad to complete a Masters degree at the University of Liverpool. I completed my A-Level studies in Cardiff Sixth Form College, and prior to that I studied in Diocesan Girls’ Junior School and Diocesan Girls’ School. In AS Levels, I have obtained A grade in physics, chemistry, biology and maths, with an average ums of 95/100. My grades for my A-Level exams are 5A*s (including chinese). I have also completed my IELTS examination with an overall score of 8.5. Having had experiences of tutoring pre-school, primary and secondary school students, I understand that the essence of learning is understanding but not memorisation.
