Hi! My name is Kiyoe. I'm a certified Japanese tutor with 5 years of experience.

My hometown is Yokohama. I have worked for a logistics and food trading company in Yokohama and Tokyo. I have been living in Australia for 5 years since 2019, where I have had many opportunities to teach Japanese to kids and adults with many different types of backgrounds.

I was born in Japan and raised by Korean parents. From this family background, I have had a strong interest in different languages and cultures since childhood. I love to travel and meet new people with different backgrounds. My favorite things are coffee, yoga, scuba diving, and movies.

Through my experience of learning English as a second language and moving to Australia, I strongly believe that learning a new language may seem like a hard and long journey at times, but it definitely brings excitement and life-changing experiences for people.

As a language tutor, my biggest joy is to see my students make progress and grow their confidence as we practice.

I've been taking lessons with Kiyoe for a while now and she's the best tutor I've had in a long time. Very nice and always finds a way to make me laugh each week! I think I've progressed a lot more than I would have with someone else in the time period I've took lessons with her. 100% recommended. Very great tutor and answers all my questions very well!!

I've had around 30 lessons with Kiyoe over the past three months, and she is such a sweet and accommodating tutor who makes every lesson worthwhile. She has taught me various aspects of Japanese, from basic grammar to the subtle differences in similar expressions. As a native speaker, she also introduces new cultural expressions that you wouldn't learn from dictionaries or self-study. The lessons are challenging without being intimidating, and I feel like it's a safe space to make mistakes. If you're studying Japanese, you're missing out if you don't try a lesson with Kiyoe!

Kiyoe is an incredible tutor. I started with her at an intermediate level and was worried I wouldn’t be able to find someone who I would be able to form a connection with. From our first lesson the conversation flowed naturally and I was able to click with her teaching style, which I feel she adapted to me. She is dedicated to helping her students learn and it’s evident in every lesson I’ve had with her. Her lessons are structured and her patience and encouragement have done nothing but motivate me in learning Japanese. I highly recommend Kiyoe to anyone starting out or planning to continue their Japanese language studies!
