My name is Lelaney and I reside in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. My main area of teaching is English and I specialize in teaching English as a foreign language. I have a very patient teaching style, especially when it comes to helping you learn and perfect English as a foreign language. I offer continuous language support inside and outside the classroom and my tutoring sessions are both interactive and engaging.

I am a native English speaker with near-native proficiency (IELTS: 8.5/9—Reading: 9, Speaking: 8.5, Writing: 8.5, Listening: 8.5; TOEFL: 115/120). I am also fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish, which I studied at St. Paul's Co-educational College Primary School and St. Paul's Co-educational College in Hong Kong. I earned a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Melbourne and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Victoria University of Technology in Australia, where I lived for many years. Since returning to Hong Kong in 2020, I have been tutoring English, mathematics, science, and coding. I have achieved the highest grades in English public exams, including an A in the HKCEE, a B in the HKAL, 5** in the DSE, an A in the IGCSE, and a 7 in the IB Diploma Language B HL. I teach various English courses from P4 to S6 for DSE, Year 4 to Year 11 for IGCSE, Year 4 to Year 11 for the IB Diploma, as well as IELTS preparation, all in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. I have successfully helped students gain acceptance to prestigious schools such as Malvern College and Diocesan Boys' School, and have improved students’ English proficiency for the DSE. My students come from both international and local schools in Hong Kong, including Malvern College, Choi Kai Yau College, Yew Chung College, Po Chiu Catholic Secondary School, and St. Francis Primary School. I am able to create customized courses for each student and have recently completed a diploma in Introduction to Teaching English as a Second Language from Alison Corp.

I was Head of English for many years at my Australian school before relocating to Hong Kong.
