Having a PhD myself in Comparative Literature I can help the student to craft their use of language in such a way so as to be most effective. I am a South African, although I grew u in Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) and hence am familiar too with the O and A level British system of secondary education. I have also studied in Italy and obtained my degrees from Stellenboscch University in South Africa.

I am a CELTA qualified teacher and I offer both private and group lessons in Amsterdam and Haarlem. I hold an MA degree in English Philology and I have been teaching English to children, teenagers and adults preparing them for various exams, but also helping to improve their speaking and listening skills. Since I passed the CELTA course (PASS B), my lessons are based on the communicative approach. I offer interesting and motivating learning materials (from various, books, magazines, the internet). Currently, I am running my own business (language school - SpeakUp English in Haarlem and Amsterdam). Moreover, I organize book reading courses (with a focus on improving reading comprehension and conversational skills for intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced students), and discussion groups based on informative and educational TED talk videos.
