I am an experienced English teacher. I have worked both online and in classroom settings. Most of my experience is with students between P1 and P4. The subjects that I have taught are English, Maths, Science, Health, and Phonics. Recently, I started teaching some of the local children from my home in Koh Chang. These lessons have become quite popular, and what started out as 5 students has grown to 15 students. They enjoy the lessons and look forward to them every week. My teaching philosophy is to make my lessons fun, as I find students learn more when they are having fun. They also become more confident and happier expressing themselves in English. I like to incorporate media into my lessons, such as fun vocabulary video clips and PowerPoint presentations. I also use video and PowerPoint quizzes, where I encourage the students to call out the answers. This helps reinforce what they have learned in the lesson.

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves.

Teaching English to young learners and adults to improve their communication skills and prepare for examinations is my passion. I am a patient and responsible teacher who believes that my students will benefit greatly from my instruction. Through my guidance, they will be able to build confidence and track their progress. I strive to help students in the best way possible to achieve their educational goals.

My name is Melissa and I’m from Cambridge in the U.K. I have over 10 years of teaching experience, 7 of those in the Hong Kong school system as well as 5 years of private tutoring in Hong Kong! When I was your age, we never had the pleasure of mobile phones, the internet, or many of the things you now enjoy. We would spend our hours building camps and having adventures in the woodlands, at the river, or on the beach. All of those times are just distant memories. You must always try to have good times with your family and friends, memories that YOU can cherish. My professional life I have a Construction Management Degree and had previously run a medium-sized construction company, carrying out building projects of all sizes, as well as managing Building Loss claims for a multitude of different Insurance companies. I spent several terms as a politician in the UK, helping people with a variety of issues from Housing to Social Care. I have now been living and teaching in Asia for over 10 years. Since I moved here, I have been teaching students of all ages, from challenging 3-year-old right up to business professionals of all ages and from all areas of business.

TEFL-qualified English tutor based on Hong Kong Island. I recently moved over from the UK after graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Sport, Physical Education & Health. My degree has equipped me in many areas, including my communication skills, knowledge, and the ability to conduct myself in a professional manner. I am studying English literature at UCL and thoroughly enjoying the course. In my experience, not many local students in Hong Kong are exposed to the fun of reading English literature so I want to spread my enthusiasm for the subject to the students I teach. I have first-hand experience of both A-Level and HKDSE systems. I studied texts under the HKDSE curriculum in Hong Kong up till Form 5 and studied in the UK for sixth form, where I achieved grades of A*A*A* in English Literature, History and Mathematics. I also got an A* for an optional Extended Project Qualification. Apart from helping students improve their English language skills for both verbal and written communication, it's important to learn English for an academic use. I write 4,000-word essays every two weeks for my degree at UCL, so I have more than enough experience of teaching essay writing. I can switch between British and American accents easily, so I can use either one depending on which accent my student wants to develop towards!
