I am a native English speaker since I went to an English boarding school at the age of 12. I am now over 60 years old and have lived and worked in both HK and the UK throughout my life. My friends are both Westerners and local Chinese. I have taught English for local and international schools, as well as in-house for corporations such as the HKJC. I have designed English courses for HK companies and a hotel in Shanghai. Additionally, I have helped a local Beijing student studying at a British international school in Beijing when we lived there in 2016-17. My goal in life, at my age, is always to help students young and old not to be afraid or deterred by the English language and learning. I can help you find enjoyment in this process, likened to learning to drive a car, if and when you need it, at the right age. There are ways to approach this learning without fear and without feeling the need to give up. Before I went to school in England at the age of 12, I did not speak English and did not have any Western friends in my life. However, I have always loved my journey with the English language and my goal in life is to share this joyous journey with others and give back to help them with their own English learning journey.

I have lectured in local and overseas universities for over 12 years. Starting from 2008, I have also been tutoring students of different grades in English, Math, and IT. The problems that the students coming to me have, especially with English, fall more or less in one or some of the common areas like vocabulary, understanding, writing with correct grammar, and expression of ideas, etc. For every student coming to me for help with English, I would always assess their level in English so that I can tailor-make material for them accordingly. During the period, I would regularly review the progress with the student to make them aware of their advancement. In fact, I have been applying the improvement cycle used in the commercial world (plan, do, check, act) to help students out.
