Hi! My name is Joanne. For high school, I moved to Hong Kong and studied the IGCSE and IB Diploma where I excelled in English. I completed university and am very passionate about sharing knowledge. My teaching style is different in the way that I discuss what is happening in society and experiences I encountered while studying and working. I was born and raised in the Philippines, but I am now based in South Korea. I love to travel and visit beaches because the sound of the waves calms my heart. I also enjoy camping with friends. Teaching has been my dream since childhood, and now that I am doing it, it is not only a dream but also a passion. Sharing diverse experiences helps me learn in life.

The possibilities are endless and I constantly ask my students to “think outside of the box.” Role modelling and indirect learning is my teaching philosophy. In working with many other instrumental music instructors and university faculty members I know that a teacher’s personality and attitude directly impacts student development. In addition to tutoring I have been trained in both IGCSE and IB. Many of my students flourished under these programs achieving top scores and winning international prizes. My former students can be found in prestigious schools such as Cambridge, Oxford, Yale, the Imperial College, The Juilliard School and the New England Conservatory.
